Notes from the coaches meeting

There was recently a coaches meeting to discuss a few items that will be relevant for the upcoming 2012 season. There will be updates to come for a number of these items and if you would like clarification, please post it here and it will be answered as soon as possible.

Here are a few of the topics discussed at the meeting that might be relevant to your team.

1. The total team fee for this year is $2,100

2. Final rosters are due before the first game is played on May 22.

3. A maximum of 13 players may be on the active roster for any given game. If the players on the field do not match those listed on the official game sheets, the team captain may be subjected to a suspension.

4. Game scores must be sent via email to eric.heino@gmail.com or by text message to 647 291 0716. Failure to report the result of your game within 24 hours of its completion will result in an automatic loss.

5. Keep it quick. In order to ensure that each game is played to it's fullest, teams are encouraged to arrive on time and ready to play with minimal delays between innings. Umpires may decide to begin calling strikes if the batting team is not ready within a reasonable time frame.

6. The game will start on time so long as each team has at least 7 players present. If there are not enough players to begin on time, a shorthanded team may delay the game up to 10 minutes to wait for a player. If this is the case, the shorthanded team will begin their at bats in the first inning with one out already recorded. This effect compounds if the team also lacks the requisit number of females on the field. For example, if a team delays the game and still only has one female, they will start with two outs in the first inning and one out in each inning where they field less than two females.

7. There is no longer a home run fence and there is a pond and landscaping in centre - right field. If a ball is hit directly into these obstacles, it will be ruled a home run. If a ball rolls our bounces in, this will be considered a ground rule double.  THIS RULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DURING THE SEASON!

8. Welcome to our newest team, Mitts & Balls ( Evolution ) They round out our league to an even 8 teams this year.
